Tata Power Club Enerji in Jamshedpur Organises Painting Competition in Association with Bureau of Energy Efficiency Sep 22, 2011

In its endeavour to spread awareness amongs children and sensitize them on energy conservation, Club Enerji Tata Power’s flagship energy conservation programme in association with Bureau of Energy Efficiency(BEE), Ministry of Power, Government of India has organised a painting competition for schools across Jamshedpur.

The competition is held in three stages, namely- local, state and national level. School students of Standard 4th, 5th and 6th are eligible to participate in this competition. Cash prizes worth Rs 33,000 per State/Union Territory (Rs.11.55 lakhs for 35 States/UTs) will be distributed to state level winners on 14th November, 2011.

For the winners of National Competition, cash prizes worth Rs.7 lakhs will be awarded by the Ministry of Power on 14th December, 2011 which is also celebrated as National Energy Conservation day, in the presence of eminent dignitaries holding very high positions in the Government
.
Speaking on the initiative, Mr. P. L. Manjrekar, General Manager, Jojobera Thermal Plant, Tata Power said, “Club Enerji brings unique engagement initiatives for children from time to time to impart knowledge of energy and resource conservation. This painting competition in association with BEE is one such effort. We intend to reach out to more and more schools to increase awareness on the importance of saving energy through young school children.”  

Under the School level competition, school painting competition has started. RVS academy has already undertaken the competition and Vidhya Bharti Chinmaya Vidyalaya will be the next school to participate. School Children can select any one topic from the following:

  • Save electricity to avoid power cuts
  • Use energy with care
  • The less you burn, the more you earn
Out of the paintings submitted by the students, school principals from the respective schools will select two best paintings and send it to the Nodal Officer of the State before 4th October, 2011. These paintings will be further shortlisted by the nodal office to arrive at the best painting for the State. Thus, leading to nominations for the nation level competition. Further, all students participating at school level painting competition will be issued certificate of participation.
