Club Enerji, a nation-wide movement by Tata Power, has been ceaselessly working towards spreading the message of being responsible citizens by instilling civil and moral values of safe practices towards energy management. In line with this commitment and in celebration of Electrical Safety Week, Tata Power organised an awareness session for Club Enerji students of Ryan International School, Malad West, Pawar Public School, Bhandup and Lakshdham High School, Goregaon.
The objective of the Awareness Session was to educate children of the different safety practices to consider while using electrical appliances and how to combat various emergency situations that might arise in case of a mishap. Over 420 children participated in the session that was conducted by employees of Tata Power for club enerji students.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ashok Sethi, COO & Executive Director, Tata Power, said, "At Tata Power, we started Club Enerji with the aim of reaching out to 12 schools across Mumbai, but today, we have been able to reach out to over 500 schools across 11 cities in India. This has all been possible because of the enthusiasm of our young participants. We are continuously at work to develop newer ways to educate them on newer themes varying from Electrical safety to disaster management. I would like to thank all participants from both Ryan International School, Malad West, and Lakshdham High School, Goregaon, for their co-operation for this session. We hope to be able to hold similar sessions in times to come."
The Club Enerji initiative has been contributing extensively towards a brighter and greener tomorrow by undertaking several successful initiatives. The savings of 17.26 MU of electricity is equivalent to saving 17,200 tonne of CO2 for a year. Tata Power’s Club Enerji has won numerous accolades and has been recognised as a best practice in forums like Learning Mission by the Tata group. A case study has also been developed by IIM Ahmedabad on the programme. Further, it has won a gold at the ABCI awards in the category ‘best communication material’ and bronze for its resource conservation module.
