In recognition to the increasing demand for energy, Tata Power today started a unique school outreach programme the 'Tata Power Energy Club'.
Speaking on the initiative, Prasad R Menon, Managing Director, Tata Power said, ''...we are confident that the citizens of Kolkata will join us in our mission of energy conservation and help achieve our goal of sensitising one million citizens by 2010. ''We are overwhelmed by the support and willingness shown by the city schools that believe that these students will further spread the message in the years to come," he added.
The programme, which kick-started with four schools in Kolkata, imparted training on workshops focusing on means and methods of energy conservation.
Tata Power's Energy Conservation Programme aim at educating people on the effective management of electricity in our everyday life.
After the successful implementation in cities like Mumbai, New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Pune, Jamshedpur, Lonavla and Bengaluru, it's the club's maiden venture in Kolkata.
