Energy Conservation Tips |
- Change your conventional light bulbs to compact fluorescent lights (CFLs). CFL consumes one-third of the power than regular bulbs. 10000 MW of power would be saved if CFLs were used to lighting homes in India.
- Always keep ACs at 24oC, the optimum temperature to keep cool.
- Switch off appliances from the plug point when not in use.
- Banish the computer monitor’s “screensaver” and “sleep” modes rather switch off the monitor when not in use.
- Choose personal lighting of lower wattage instead of common lighting of higher wattage.
- Don’t unnecessarily use artificial light. Use natural light when you can.
- Use electricity effectively from 10AM to 8PM.
- Switch off AC, lights and fans when leaving a room.
- Use stairs instead of lift, when you have to walk up one floor or walk down three.
- Last and most important, always insist on buying BEE certified efficient star rated electrical appliances.
